To help better understand your health issues, I use a number of assessment methods including case history, pulse and tongue assessment, and other methods such as iris examination, salivary tests and hair mineral analysis.
Of the various techniques, the most thorough and comprehensive is the case history. During a consultation I will thoroughly review your health history, and if required, perform a few different physical exams to provide better context to anything that comes up in your history.
Pulse assessment is an ancient technique of assessment used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine. During assessment, the radial artery is palpated with three fingers, and provides insight into the nature of digestion, the overall strength of the body, and metabolic imbalances. Tongue assessment is similarly used in both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine, to ascertain the status of the digestive organs, as well as the overall health of the body. Iris examination is used to provide insight into the overall function of the body, and can also be used to provide insight into the mental and emotional nature of the patient.
Saliva tests and hair mineral analysis are more objective assessment techniques that provide insight into specific markers that can be correlated with poor health and specific health issues.
