Chemical Injury

There are many chemicals, both natural and synthetic, that are known to damage cells (cytotoxicity, cell = cyto). Some of these chemicals are cytotoxic and act by direct means, whereas others are only become toxic when they are metabolized. Humans are being exposed to an increasingly wider array of environmental toxins than we have that have seen before, most of which have been produced as a direct result of industrialization. These toxins are now found in both the workplace and in the homes, as well as in our food, air water and bodies.
